You can succeed.

With all this doom and gloom about the economy, what should you do?

Reach for the antidepressants, or stop moaning and get on with it.

I can really suggest the later

Two years ago, I was happily making a living building computers.
Not just any old computers, but state of the art, customised gaming machines.
Then the bubble burst, luckily I managed to come out of it without lots of debt.
I lost just about everything I had.
Over the years I have been luckily enough, to be self employed more than I have been employed.
I don't know what it is about being employed, that annoys me.
I suppose, I just don't like the attitude of some employers.
Anyhow 12 months ago, I took a job.
I did all the usual things, sucking eggs, jumping through hoops and the like.
After four months, I decided it wasn't for me.
I needed something challenging.
I decided to bite the bullet and be in charge of my own destiny once again.
I did just that.
I took the plunge and started up my own business.
Being in possession of lots of useful skills, I set about my challenge.
I planned everything out, asked a few people if they would like to join me in my new venture.
Everybody thought I was mad.
The same old story.
'Were in a recession.'
As if I didn't know. D'oh!
I set it up, then tried to seek help.
None was forth coming.
I resigned myself to thinking the whole world, thinks Ive gone mad.
Maybe I had.
But at least I was now free from the rat race.
I invested everything I had into it.
It's amazing how hard you work, when its for yourself.
To say it was hard at first, would be an understatement.
I sacrificed everything.
I didnt moan or groan about the state of the economy.
I was fully aware of the risks and got on with it.

When I survived the first 6 months, I thought about entering the olympics.
Suddenly I had become a champion hurdler.
Things were looking up, the business was starting to grow at an alarming rate, far exceeding all my expectations.
Just when I thought I was over the worst, the snow hit.
The whole country came to a stand still.
This put stock deliveries behind for two weeks, I lost quite a few orders.
But the majority of my customers, stuck by me and I managed to get through it.
Now orders were coming in thick and fast, I was so busy.
It was great.
2010 is looking like a great year.
Help is now beginning to come in thick and fast, appointments I couldn't previously get are now being made.
Telephone calls are now being returned in record time.
Growth plans are well under way.

Business Link are now even calling me.

It can be done.

Ok I might have aged 10 years and lost 3 stone in weight.
