Littlemere, great mixed fishery, with some hard fighting carp. I really love the location of this place.

Autumn Sunset One Of My Nightfishing Stints

Pickmere Lake, my biggest challenge to date, I know there are big fish in here. But at present have failed to bank one. Had a few near misses.

This is going to be my 2010 challenge.

The peace, the quiet, It's out of the way.

Off with my Tackle, another night people say.

Just me, my rod, my alarms and my pod.

With two rods out, I fire out my spod.

As night falls, I sit patiently and wait,

Will tonight be the night, a carp takes my bait.

The lake is so peaceful now, not a soul in sight.

I retire to my bivvy and sit out the night.

Vernons Lodge Preston

Vernons Lodge

A truly magnificient place to fish. I used to fish it back in the old days, the late 70's till the mid 80's. The old place has changed quite a bit since then. Plenty of specimen Chub, Roach, Tench, Bream, Carp, Perch and pike. It used to have a good head of crucian carp. It will probably be a bit quieter now the mill has closed. Although the Vernons boys were a good bunch.

If ever you get the chance to go here and fish, beware it can be very addictive. Whenever I go back to Preston, I always nip up for a look.

Pendleview Fishery

I remember when I first started to fish it back in 2002/03. I recall I only started to fish it at the back end of the season. I fished it solid throughout the winter in some harsh conditions.

I went six months without catching a carp of any real size, I remember fishing the Carp series of winter matches. I won the whole series with one small Crucian Carp, Which took three grains of sweetcorn.

Then came summer of 2003, the old place really came on form. I remember one night in particular, me and my little mate Fester, who was only about 7 at the time. We caught 14 fish during the 2 nights, It was spectacular, I caught grass carp, linear carp, ghost carp, common carp, bream which were huge slabs, mirror carp and my personal best mirror carp which was 32lb 4oz. It was a truly great summer. But it didnt end there, that summer I must have banked some 60 fish. One night at 3.30am when I was fishing under the pine trees. I got a huge awakening, when I almost banked a cat fish.

Only Tracey and Gary who were then the resident bailiffs, believed me. I have some fond memories of the place and do intend to give it a go this year.
