Fishing, Much More Than Just A sport
55More than just a sport.
Here in the UK, it is only just being realised, that angling is much more than just a sport. The realisation, is that angling can be a powerful tool. Not just for educational issues, but can also help tackle community issues, such as antisocial behaviour and vandalism.
The use of angling as an educational learning tool. Here in the UK alone, there are more and more children between the age group of 11 - 14, who just seem to find learning in school, In the conventional way, boring and they seem to have very little interest in the subjects being taught. Instead of finding an alternative answer to this problem, educational institutions just tend to categorise these kids.
Angling has the potential, to gain some children's attention and more over keep this attention. Lots people have just started to discover that angling is becoming a valuable learning tool. Not only can it be used to teach pupils about the environment and conservation. It can also, be used to teach maths and English, geography, ecology and botany.
Confidence building
It has often been said, that children with low self esteem, who lack confidence in themselves. Generally become under achievers at school.
Angling is a great way to break the ice and helps overcome lots of barriers, lots of children who I have had the pleasure of teaching about angling. Have, once they experienced the thrill of catching a fish, have developed a keen interest in the sport. You can then build upon this, to get them to learn from books about angling. This can be the foundation or building block for learning a whole host of other subjects. As well as boosting their self confidence, as they develop into confident anglers.

It has been proven, that angling can help forge links in the community and help combat anti social behaviour. By helping young people to take part in angling workshops, free coaching days and joining angling clubs. Helps teenagers, find a hobby.Gives them something to do.
Angling is a sport, which unlike any other sport. Is open, to everyone with an interest. Young, old, male or female, able bodied and disabled. It also breaks down social barriers. Angling is a great way to get out and about, to keep occupied, meet new people and make new friends.
